Pregnancy causes an incredible transformation in a woman's body.
Her uterus enlarges and becomes the most important organ in her body. Her cardiovascular and respiratory systems must adapt to meet the blood and oxygen needs of both the mother and the growing baby. The hormonal system has to completely reorganise itself, and the liver increases its output by 70% to enable all these adjustments.
The further the pregnancy progresses, the bigger the baby becomes and the less space there is for the organs.
However, this amazing transformation can be very challenging, both physically and emotionally.
Pregnancy can also be a demanding time emotionally. It sometimes triggers an emotional rollercoaster ride where the expectant mother finds herself constantly switching between tears and laughter, which can be stressful for both the woman and the couple.
Therapeutic support during these months helps to :
- Facilitate physical and emotional adjustments
- Regain balance and well-being
- Take time for yourself and for the baby
- Align the uterus so that it can stretch and contract with full force during birth to push the baby out
- Prepare the body for birth.
Some reasons why I advise expectant mothers
to come for a consultation :
- Antiflexion or known unfavourable position of the uterus
- Nausea
- Pain
- Venous and lymphatic congestion
- Haemorrhoids
- Headaches
- Heartburn
- Constipation
- Tense pelvic floor
- Breathing difficulties
- Insomnia
- Exhaustion
- Emotional imbalance
- A poorly positioned baby
